WNBA Star Natasha Cloud, 2K Foundations, WNBPA & OneTeam Partners Outfit Four Phoenix Area Boys & Girls Clubs with New Basketball Equipment.
Natasha Cloud, the star for the Phoenix Mercury, alongside 2K Foundations, the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA), and OneTeam Partners, launched a project to support underserved communities in Phoenix by donating essential basketball equipment and providing financial support to four Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley (BGCAZ) branches.
A WNBA champion known for her leadership on and off the court, Natasha spearheaded this initiative to provide much-needed resources to these branches. The launch event at the Jerry Colangelo Branch on Saturday, July 20, during the WNBA All-Star Weekend, in the Maryvale neighborhood, brought together over 150 children and their families for a day of music, food, and basketball activities. Natasha made a surprise visit, delighting the kids with the new equipment.
“Kids have the power to change the world, and it’s crucial that we give them the resources, opportunities, and guidance they need to harness their power, intelligence, and voice,” said Natasha Cloud. “Providing access to basketball is essential because it teaches them teamwork, discipline, and resilience. But this initiative goes beyond the game; it’s about investing in these kids’ futures and showing them that they matter. I’m incredibly proud that the WNBPA and I have partnered with 2K Foundations to bring these resources to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley.”
The Jerry Colangelo Branch is located in one of the areas of highest need in Phoenix. The other branches that received equipment and resources include the Thunderbirds Branch in Guadalupe, serving Native American and Hispanic communities; the I.G. Homes Branch, the first BGCAZ branch, located in downtown Phoenix; and the UMOM Branch, serving families in transitional housing and focusing on music, arts, and sports.
