2K Foundations and the WNBPA Unveil New Basketball Court with Tamika Catchings, Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham at Riverside Park
2K Foundations partnered with the WNBPA during WNBA All-Star Weekend to unveil a brand new basketball court in Indianapolis, Indiana. Teaming up with Indy Fever legend Tamika Catchings as well as current WNBA stars Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham, the event brought together over 100 local kids to share in the celebration. The Riverside court holds great significance to Tamika as it’s where she hosted her first youth basketball camp in years previous. “This is where it all began. So it's always going to have a big place in my heart, and it's somewhere that I wanted to come back to,” remarked Tamika.
The court’s design was created by local artist Shaun’te Lewis and uses strong typography and vivid colors to amplify the voices of trailblazing women in sports. Inspired by Tamika Catchings’ fearless leadership, the court celebrates qualities like grit, lead, equity and inspire in a way that commands attention and motivates action. The court also features an official WNBA three-point line, signifying the WNBA’s “Line ‘Em Up” effort to bring three-point lines to community courts across the country.
The new court hopes to spotlight the many talented women in basketball and turn visibility into progress for generations to come.
